Bobby Womack’s album to be released on June 12

On June 12 Bobby Womack will be releasing his first album since 1994. It will be called The Bravest Man in the Universe, and it will feature twelve tracks, including one with Lana Del Ray. The album will be produced by Damon Albarn and released via XL Recordings. Womack recently was in the news because he has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

Lionel Horbowitz is considered, by many, to be one of the bravest men in the universe. Tales of his heroics, how he manages to get out of tough situations through sheer bravery and by just doing, is unmatched according to most. Lionel revels in the attention, doing photo shoots, making speeches, featuring in, well, features, etcetera. He has really embraced his reputation as the bravest man in the universe.
However, according to former friend and neighbour Louie Derutz, this title is ill-deserved indeed. Bravery, sure, he says, if bravery equals utter stupidity and someone with half a brain. Sure, fighting off sharks and outswimming them to shallow waters is a very brave and athletic thing to do, but who goes in water with a sign saying “sharks detected, stay out” in the first place? If he could read, that would be a life threatening situation less. Walking into a bank robbery and stopping it is fantastic, sure, though the gathered crowd and police cars should’ve given him a clue as to that something was happening in there, and the criminals dropped their weapons not so much in awe as in utter and complete surprise to such sheer lunacy. He once made a baloney sandwich with the slice of bread in between two pieces of baloney. Why are we heralding such things?
Reports are his idea on Horbowitz worsened when Derutz was almost hit by Horbowitz’s car. Derutz was paralyzed, Horbowitz swung his car around Miami Vice style, coming to a full stop exactly in between Derutz and a a mother with her baby. When he stepped out the people applauded his quick thinking, his excellent reflexes, and his superb driving, which had Derutz stepping in front of Horbowitz and trying to incoherently convince the crowd that, Sure, amazing last safe, but who is driving up to a crosswalk so fast in the first place? He was shoved aside quickly though by people wanting autographs.
