Crazy Zany Radio Sunday - 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by William Shatner

Every week our contributors will voice their opinion concerning one song, it’s a simple as that! The more the merrier, so people are always welcome to join in, just leave a note, eh.

Track: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by William Shatner (listen here)
Average grade: 3.6

Anna: I don't feel this is working at all. Other songs Shatner has, erm, taken on have worked better, such as Pulp's Common People because that's an anthem of a straight song and his take can bring that note of perverse entertainment to it. Bohemian Rhapsody, however, is such a brilliantly schizophrenic song by its nature that there aren't a lot of things you can do to it and so Shatner's take fell flat.
Grade: 2

Ilse: Uhh.... what the heck did I just watch?!
5.0

Linda: I don't think I'm overestimating when I say this track is the most ridiculous piece of music I have ever heard. Nevertheless, it is amazing that someone can do this (and fill 4 whole albums with similar junk) just by having been Captain Kirk in a previous lifetime. William Shatner must be one hell of a charming guy to make this happen at the age of 80 (and outsell fellow-Star Trek sell-out Leonard Nimoy at the same time). Just for that, I'm giving him a
8/10

Craig: Yes, William Shatner is funny when he 'covers' songs, but this is the most banal one he could have done. Over it.
.01/10

Stef: Okay, the first few seconds that Shatner appears are funnier than I had expected. After that it ever so quickly turns into something very much cringeworthy.
3/10
