New Floating Points EP Coming Out

Next week Floating Points will come with a limited release. It is called Shadows and it contains five lengthy tracks. One of those songs is called ‘Sais’ and was released as part of Record Store Day earlier this year. It will close out the limited release EP.

Shadows were long thought to be a human’s best friend as they are always there for you (this reputation is now bestowed upon dogs, who not only bite more often than shadows, they have a shorter life expectancy as well so you have to relive the death of your best friend multiple times in your life). However, a shady (...) campaign by a group with the slogan How to bring more Sunshine in your life did their utmost to disspel this positive image of shadows. For, they reckoned, when it finally is a sunny day, shadows prevent it from truly becoming a hundred procent light, instead they make sure there is always a taint of darkness. Their argument became even more believable when they showed statistics that people were indeed happier when the sun is out. So imagine, their logical conclusion was, when the sun isn’t prevented from touching upon things by those darkly, dangerous shadows, the sun is more effective in spreading happiness.

That campaign led to a negative image of shadows, which were now seen as rather mysterious and villainous things. Despite this though, the campaign had a hard time actually disspelling these creatures from the world as they don’t exactly rub out. So the campaign lost a bit of traction, especially now that a research has come out that, yes, sunshine makes people happy, but now they are a tad more miserable because they are always towing a shadow around that they don’t completely trust anymore. Sadly, the shadow is having a hard time regaining some of its previous positive image.
