Weekly Froth #13 (Including tracks by Late Nite Tuff Guy, Marcos Cabral + 4 more)

The weekly froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer’s fancy.

Track of the week: ‘Not In Love Anymore’ by Late Nite Tuff Guy
This is a Michael McDonald song called ‘I Keep Forgetting’, and you might’ve heard that one before. This is on a new release by Late Nite Tuff Guy, who does these amazing edits of all those disco classics, and this one ranks right up there. It’s a bit beefed up, it is nice and clean and slick, but it also is Michael friggin’ McDonald. And he gives McDonald plenty of room here. Especially at 3:10, that’s brilliant, the song just completely opens up. Honestly, I’ve played this for about 24 hours straight. Those vocals, the room they get, but still as a rework it is smooth and it flows very well. It is, on all accounts, a killer song, and you just have to play this at full blast. I mean, when Michael McDonald sings, well, just about everything in this rework, it is magnificent. It certainly packs the punch. It is that I have a column to write, otherwise I would still be listening to this. I’m like that daft kid who doesn’t move past that fish in that aquarium sometimes, just googling at it.
(listen to this track and read and listen about/to five more tracks here)
