The Field is readying the release of the follow-up to 2009s Yesterday & Today. The new album will be called Looping State of Mind and it will be released by Kompakt. This will happen on the 25th of October. The tracklist is comprised of seven tracks, and around the time of the release The Field will be promoting the album with a tour. He will play Ekko in Utrecht.
A looping state of mind was, according to Dr. P.H. Steinbrenner, the essence of the modern mind. It is the ability to loop, to constantly repeat that what a man had learned anew. So, for instance, if 1+1=2, then the previous sum doubled must be 4. Steinbrenner tested this by taking a person into a jungle-like environment. The person would wait, a crocodile would pop up besides the person. This person would be scared out of his wits, then would let out a sigh of relief when a huge crate would fall upon the crocodile. The crate would fall open, out would roll another crocodile. The test person, this time prepared for the possibility of crocodiles appearing, would take a large stick and beat the crocodile. This proved to be a very effective test, not in the least because the second crocodile would be a stuffed one, and Dr. Steinbrenner would then say, What did you do to my stuffed crocodile! That was 38.50, and only because I got it cheaply off of my cousin Ira! The people, in a flurry of reactionary guilt, would then pay for the crocodile. This in turn helped Steinbrenner fund his next research; How people react to scams and can it be repeated a second time?
