The weekly froth! A weekly take on six tracks, most of them which have recently popped up somewhere in the blogosphere. Bit of a mixed bag with a slight leaning towards house, disco, and remixes, but generally just anything that for some reason tickled the writer’s fancy.
Track of the week: ‘The 87’ by Fernando
Love the bass that comes in just before the minute mark. Then a bit of the old tom-toms, and slowly but surely it gets into shape with some synths and some vocals. I mean, this is such a classic structure, but it is a classic structure because it works. And you still have to execute it. I would happily drop this in a mix or on the dancefloor. It just gives you that innate sense that you need to be dancing, that you need to be moving, as if it is constantly accelerating and as if it is constantly gaining momentum. Not much to say because this is just a very well executed and very danceable Disco/House track from one of the 2020 Soundsystem guys.
