Track of the week: ‘Sink or Swim’ van New Order (luister hier)
Average grade: 4.9
Jox: Well, these boys come from my own backyard, so I better be careful what I say... But they are better than the usual Manchester fare, simply because they aren't trying to sound like Oasis. In fact there is a certain something a little super-cool about these guys, a little sunset and cocktails, a sort of LA slickness that makes me think of The Ladybug Transistor. I don't know where they picked it up from, but by fusing it with elements of your normal Northern England indie scene, they are on to a winner.

Anna: Cure called; they want their poppiness (it's a word) and their eyeliner back. I can only help with the latter.

Jon: Joy Division and early New Order made such inspiring music but every time Bernard Sumner takes a step to the side he bores the hell outta me. His vocal pattern and song structure never changes. Even Hooky's unique bass style wouldn't of saved this one. It's stale regurgitated pop that makes me feel like it's time for Bernard to get back to basics or give it up for good.

Stef: Yes, it is a fun, easy on the ear little tune. Yes, we’ve heard it all before, music and lyrics both. Sumner has lived long enough to do something more interesting than this.
